Christmas Bike Sale

at 4:33 pm posted by Chris C

Maybe you bought too many treats at your work’s Christmas bake sale.  Work it off by riding a new bicycle.  We’re selling off the finest bikes remaining at the shop (mostly abandoned “project” bikes and higher-quality frames) in as-is condition, for cheap!

Come in this Saturday, December 13 between 1-5pm (our regular shop hours) and go home with a new bike or two.  Most of them require some amount of work (some of them are no more than frames), but that’s what we’re here for: to teach you how get your bike ready to ride, provide access to the tools.

If you can’t make it then, then you can always stop by on a later date during our regular hours, but your selection may be slimmer.

Winter Hours, Women/Trans shop days

at 1:55 pm posted by Chris C

We have new winter hours, and several new mechanics for the season.  Stop in to say “Hi”, and winterize your bike.

Monday: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Wednesday: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Saturday: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Sunday (women/trans only): 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm, the first and third Sundays of each month (closed other Sundays)

In an effort to make our space more inviting and inclusive, we’re reserving the first and third Sundays of each month for women and transgendered persons. We’ll be closed on remaining Sundays.  We’ll be open this Sunday, December 7 for the kick-off of this new initiative.

Everyone is always welcome during all other shop hours.

BikeWorks clean-up

at 2:37 am posted by Chris C

We’re cleaning up BikeWorks to make it a friendlier, more productive space.  We’re having a yard clean-up on Sunday, November 23, from 1-5pm.  Come by BikeWorks that day to help us recycle bikes and keep them out of the dump!  You don’t need to know anything about bicycles, and we’ll feed you and supply you with drink.

As part of our clean-up efforts, we’re clearing personal projects out of BikeWorks.  If you have bicycles (or components) in storage at the shop, please come remove them by November 30, 2008. No exceptions. Anything left in BikeWorks after that date will become EBC property (and may be dismantled or sold), regardless of whether or not it’s labelled as being yours.  Please if you need to make arrangements to access the shop before that date, but cannot make it during regular shop hours.  This applies to long-time volunteers, board members, mechanics, and members alike. If it’s still there in December, you’ll have to buy it back from us.

BikeWorks hours:
Monday: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Wednesday: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Saturday: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Sunday (women/trans only): 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm, first and third Sundays of each month (closed other Sundays)

2008 Holiday hours:
Closed on Wednesday, December 24.
Closed on Wednesday, December 31.
Open normal hours on Saturday, December 27 and Monday, December 29.
