What's your favorite bike?

I love both my bikes. I ride my hybrid to work, for short distances or to the store. My road bike is for my longer distance rides.

What are your favorite rides in the city?

My favorite is riding from Palmer Park to Belle Isle and back. And even though it's not very long, I absolutely love riding along the RiverWalk. Another favorite is riding West Outer Drive to Rouge Park and Hines Drive.

How do safety concerns shape your ride?

I really don't have any concerns except when the traffic might be busy. I often ride early in the morning when few people are out. I sometimes am concerned about stray dogs. But Detroiters are very friendly to bicyclists for the most part. Kids often cheer you on.

You've ridden the existing Underground Railroad Bicycle Route. Do you have any thoughts on the planned route through Detroit?

I am just very, very excited about the route. It's good for the city. It's really a wonderful way to celebrate and honor the people who used this route to freedom.

As someone who's biked in Detroit for some time, what trends have you noticed?

More people are biking in the city. Actually more people are biking period. I see more people biking to work and there are a lot more group rides.
