As part of a fundraiser for the Kids & Chrome Foundation, Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens) is scheduled to judge a contest that will pit American bicycle and motorcycle builders against one another.
The challenge is to customize new electric bicycles (donated by Schwinn) into rides suitable for Pee-wee, who is apparently tired of his 1947 cruiser.
“My old red Schwinn is my best friend, but I’m ready for something new,” he said.
The fundraiser is part of South Dakota’s 70th annual Sturgis motorcycle rally. After altering and fabricating for a few weeks, the builders will present their creations to Pee-wee on August 8, 2010. After choosing a winner, Pee-wee will autograph all entries, which will then be raffled off to raise money for local children’s charities and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame, according to a press release.
Pee-wee will then inaugurate his new ride as captain of the Buffalo Chip Annual Legends Charity Ride the next day.
